Home Credit Vietnam signs WEPs commitment, advancing gender equality and sustainable business

Home Credit Vietnam has officially signed pledge to  the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), marking a new milestone in its journey to build an equitable workplace, empower women, and pursue sustainable business growth.

On May 28, as part of the business forum "Balancing the scales in business: From policies to actions", co-hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Ho Chi Minh City, Home Credit Vietnam joined nine other businesses in signing the WEPs commitment, affirming its determination to advance gender equality in the workplace, across the industry and the community.

To date, 257 businesses in Vietnam have joined WEPs, among more than 3,000 organisations across the Asia-Pacific region that have signed the commitment. Initiated by UN Women, the framework sets out seven core principles that enable businesses to translate their commitments into clear goals that can be measured and evaluated.

Under these principles, participating businesses commit to establishing high-level corporate leadership for gender equality  having senior leadership take the lead in advancing gender equality; ensuring fair treatment in the workplace; safeguarding the health, safety, and wellbeing of all workers; promoting education, training and professional development for women; embedding gender equality across business operations, supply chains, and communications; promoting equality through community initiatives and advocacy; and measuring and publicly reporting on progress to achieve gender equality.

For Home Credit Vietnam, joining WEPs can be seen as an advancement following multiple gender equality programmes and policies that the company has steadily implemented over many years.

According to 2024 figures, women account for more than 60% of Home Credit's workforce, with the share of women in management positions reaching 40.7%, reflecting the growing role of women within the company's structure. To date, the company has recorded no complaints relating to inequality.

Guided by its commitment to a diverse, equity and inclusive (DEI) workplace, Home Credit maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards gender-based discrimination, while proactively building recruitment processes and promotion opportunities free from gender bias.

In particular, the company focuses on nurturing female talents by mapping out career development pathways and enabling high-potential employees to take on key positions, alongside substantial investment in senior leadership development programmes.

In parallel, the company runs training and engagement activities to deepen understanding of gender equality and DEI among employees at all levels, and has extended childcare and family support policies to male employees as well, reflecting its view that this is a shared responsibility, regardless of gender.

Throughout its operations, Home Credit Vietnam has consistently prioritised building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DEI) workplace.

Beyond its internal workplace, Home Credit has extended support to disadvantaged women in the community through the Home for Life project, started from 2014 with the mission of empowering women with opportunities for a better life. Over the last four years, the initiative has helped more than 300 women in difficult circumstances access reliable capital to support their livelihoods, contributing to a stronger economic foundation for some of society's most vulnerable groups.

Beyond direct capital support, Home Credit regularly holds workshops on financial and livelihood skills, and in 2025 launched its Financial Handbook for Women. To date, these activities have reached more than 1,900 women, helping them confidently manage spendings and make independent financial decisions.

Home Credit supports women in difficult circumstances as they build their livelihoods and improve their financial literacy, through the Home for Life project launched in 2014.

Home Credit Vietnam regards advancing gender equality as a key enabler to delivering our strategy and future sustainability.Officially pledging to WEPs will serve as our compass to continue practicing inclusive, responsible business in the years ahead. We are committed to ensuring opportunities for women in both the workplace and the community, thereby, helping to reduce inequality and drive society's sustainable development," Home Credit Vietnam’s representative affirmed.
